Dellydance FAQs

Who is the course for?
The course is open to anyone! All shapes, sizes, ages and levels of fitness are welcome. You can take it at the pace that suits you, and because there are all levels in my classes there is always the opportunity to notice how each move looks on different body types.

Do I need any skills or qualifications?
No, just enthusiasm!

Can I try a class before I commit to the full course?
Yes, you can try a class for £5 and if you like it, that will be reduced from your final course fee. This is on a first come, first served basis. Many of my classes book out, so to avoid disappointment book early and take advantage of the ‘Early Bird’ discount (see prices below).

I can’t attend all classes/I'm on holiday - can I pay less?
Rather than discounting and to keep my prices low, once you have paid for the term and you miss a class, you can attend any of my other classes to catch up.

Do I have to attend every class to keep up?
Don’t worry if you can’t attend all my classes. I have some DVDs you can use at home for support. Also, if you missed a class you can join another class to catch up.

Will I gain any qualifications?
There are no formal qualifications on offer.

How will I learn?
Through tutor input, group work and repetition of certain basic moves each week, you will be encouraged to achieve your goals.

What materials or equipment do I need to start bellydancing?
You don't need any special equipment. Just turn up in a comfortable top and jogging bottoms or flowing skirt - although students who have been for a while often enjoy dressing up in dance outfits.

Where could this course lead?
Many students go on to workshops organised by BAMBA, the Birmingham And Midlands Belly Dance Association. There is also the opportunity to attend parties called haflas, where you will have a chance to dance, perform and dress up if you choose - or just have fun!

Who runs the course?
Debbie Williams has been dancing for 12 years. She has danced professionally for Harrods owner Mohamed Al Fayed and the Turkish Ambassador to the UK. She has also worked with hypnotist Paul McKenna. Debbie uses accelerated learning techniques in her classes to make it easier for students to master many move in a fun way. As well as teaching bellydancing, Debbie is a qualified hypnotherapist and licensed Neuro Linguistic Programming trainer, and is clinical consultant to the Harley Street practice Just Be Well. Debbie was the first person to bring bellydancing classes to the adult education programme in the Sutton Coldfield side of Birmingham.
